Hayley writes science fiction, fantasy, non-fiction gaming and tech guides from the stunning hinterland of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. She holds a post-graduate degree in Molecular Archaeology (the study of ancient residues on prehistoric artefacts) and has studied biology, palaeontology, anthropology and genetics, among other wonderful things. When she’s not writing or spending time with her husband and two gorgeous sons, Hayley enjoys running, crafting, sewing, eating vegan and discovering new vintage stores.
Her two fluffy dogs, Sindar and Kyah, and one fluffy cat, Mollywobbles, follow her everywhere.
Touching on contemporary issues of environmental responsibility, animal rights and social activism, much of Hayley’s work is led by her passion for conservation. Her novel, HUMAN, follows archaeologist Ivy Carter as she travels through time, uprooting prehistory and human evolution while baring the ultimate question, ‘How do you truly define humanity?’
Hayley’s serialised novel “Avon Calling!” is her latest work, which juxtaposes the quintessential ‘Avon Lady’ against the chauvinistic underbelly of 1940’s New York. This book was selected as a finalist in Adi Shankar’s Bootleg Universe Short Script and Story Contest, against a global backdrop of hundreds of screenwriting entrants. Episode #1 was also nominated for an Aurealis Award, Australia’s premier speculative fiction awards, after it’s original publication in the Neo-Pulp anthology ‘This Mutant Life’ (2013). The feature-film screenplay of ‘Avon Calling!’ has been a semi-finalist in the International ScreenCraft Fellowship in both 2013 and 2014.
Hayley’s family gaming channel on YouTube, SkyPandaAus, showcases the many different ways kids can explore the Skylanders universe. She has published two extensive Skylanders players’ guides for Pearsons Education Publishing. She enjoys gaming with her two young sons and is a fan of building elaborate castles in Minecraft.
